MARIETTA, Ohio — Marietta College senior Jason Ellis (Marion, Ohio/Marion Harding) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Great Lakes Region first team Wednesday (April 21) morning. Ellis, a first time all-region selection, is now eligible for All-American honors.

Ellis is Marietta's first, first team honoree since A.J. Edwards (Twinsburg, Ohio/Twinsburg) earned first team recognition following the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons.

"I'm very proud of Jason," Marietta head coach Jon VanderWal said. "He has worked extremely hard and is deserving of any honor that comes his way. Jason has proven he is one of the best guards in all of Division III."

A three-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference performer, Ellis was named the OAC Dick Reynolds Player of the Year after leading the Pioneers to the OAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships this winter. He is just the fourth Pioneer to win Player of the Year honors joining Trevor Halter (Malvern/Malvern) (2010-11), Garrett Stephenson (West Milton/Milton-Union) (2014-15) and Edwards (2015-16).

Ellis ranked in the Top-10 of the OAC in several statistical categories including scoring (15.5 ppg), field goal shooting (51.4%), three-point shooting (52.5%), free throw shooting (95.0%), assists (46) and steals (15). He became the 36th player in program history to score 1,000 career points and was also named the Most Valuable Player of the OAC Tournament.

Marietta finished the season with a 12-1 overall record and ranked No. 6 in the D3hoops.com national poll. The Pioneers won the OAC Regular Season championship for the sixth time in the last seven years and the OAC Tournament title for the fourth time in program history.
