MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College men's tennis team opened the 2021 season with a 9-0 loss to John Carroll University Saturday (March 20) afternoon. The Pioneers fall to 0-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. John Carroll starts the year 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
The Blue Streaks blanked Marietta in each of the three doubles matches. In the top spot, Mark Beebe and Andy Siciliano posted an 8-0 win over
Eric DeLong (Lowell, Ohio/Marietta) and
Spencer Hall (Louisville, Ohio/Louisville). Marietta's
Kylar Wheeler (/) and
Tyler Wise (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) fell at No. 2 doubles to Logan Langovsky and Grant Sarnowski, 8-0. JCU's Doug Moore and Andrew Triner were 8-0 winners at No. 3 over Ali Al Saffar and
Nathan Hanning (Nelsonville, Ohio/Alexander).
DeLong fell to Siciliano at No. 1 singles by the scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Langovsky beat Hall at No. 2 by the same scores. At No. 3, Beebe downed Wise, 6-0 and 6-0.
Wheeler lost to Sarnowski at No. 4, 6-0 and 6-1. Triner and Alvaro Estrada Rosabal took down Hanning and Al Saffar at Nos. 5 and 6, respectively, by identical scores of 6-0 and 6-0.
Marietta hosts Ohio Northern University on Saturday (March 27) at 1:00 p.m.
