MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College women's tennis team fell to John Carroll University by the score of 9-0 Saturday (March 20) afternoon at the Beren Tennis Center. The loss drops Marietta to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Blue Streaks start the season 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
John Carroll swept the doubles play to open the match. In the No. 1 match, Skye Harwood and Megan Reese blanked
Destiny Grim (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion)m and
Anne Thompson (Wilmington, Ohio/Clinton-Massie), 8-0. Alyssa Krupp and Mia Zivkovic posted an 8-1 win over
India Flores (Waverly, W.Va./Williamstown) and
Reagan Haas (Marietta, Ohio/Parkersburg Catholic (W.Va.)) at No. 2.
Payton Brinks (Mattawan, Mich./Mattawan) and
Abby Ketchum (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) dropped the No. 3 match to Emily Day and Jaclyn Voss, 8-0.
Reese downed Thompson in the No. 1 singles match by the score of 6-0 and 6-0. At No. 2, Grim lost a 6-2, 6-0 decision to Krupp. Zivkovic won at No. 3 over Haas, 6-0 and 6-0.
At No. 4, Harwood defeated Flores, 6-0 and 6-1. Day swept Ketchum at No. 5, 6-0 and 6-0, while Voss was a 6-0, 61 winner at No. 6 against Brinks.
Marietta hosts Ohio Northern University on Saturday (March 27) at 1:00 p.m.
