Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women’s Lacrosse beaten by Otterbein

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – The Marietta College women's lacrosse team fell 20-3 on the road at Otterbein University, on Wednesday (March 10) evening.  With the win the Cardinals improve to 3-2 overall and 3-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, and with the loss the Pioneers are now 2-3 overall, and 2-3 in OAC action.

Head Coach Malory Nadrah said, "We're disappointed with tonight's performance. Otterbein has really emerged this season as a top OAC team, but we are still struggling with the parts of the game in our control. Tonight wasn't our night, mixed with a lot of calls not our way, and unlucky situations."

Otterbein jumped out to an early lead when they scored the first six goals to lead, 6-0 at the 21:27 minute mark of the first half. Marietta answered with a pair of goals, to trim the Cardinals advantage to 6-2.  The Pioneer goals were scored Megan Marshall (Naples, Fla./Estero) and Hope Adams (Delaware, Ohio/Bishop Watterson).  After five minutes of scoreless action, Otterbein scored to take a 7-2 edge.  Marietta answered three minutes later when Mackenzie Dyott (Easton, Md./Easton) scored off of a feed from Megan McGriff (Lakewood, Colo./Bear Creek).  The Cardinals scored the final five goals of the half, and led 12-3 at the intermission.

Otterbein scored two minutes into the second half, and scored the only goals of the second half.  The Cardinals scored eight second half goals, and won 20-3.  Maddie Leers (Crystal Lake, Ill./Barrington) played all 60 minutes in goal for the Pioneers she faced, 41 shots, 29 of which were on goal, and made nine saves.

Marietta was led by Adams, Dyott, and Marshall as they each scored a goal.  Defensively, Taylor Carr (Charleston, W.Va./St. Albans), Emily Etheridge (Harrisville, R.I./Burrillville), Shelby Millheim (Bethlehem, Pa./Freedom), and Marley Phillippe (Easton, Md./Easton) all caused a turnover in the game.

The Pioneers will return to the field Saturday (March 13) when they host the University of Mount Union, with a start time of 1 p.m.
