MARIETTA, Ohio — Another week is coming to a close and it is time to wrap up the '90s in our celebration of the Marietta College Soccer's All-Decade Teams. Today we are happy to announce the Offensive Player of the 1990s Decade and that player is Roy Munk, class of 1996.

Roy came to Marietta from Willowick, Ohio as part of Coach Pete Curtis' 1992 recruiting class. Munk wasted no time in making an impact on the Pioneer program as in the fall of '92 Munk led the team in goals with nine and points with 22.  He followed up that breakout performance with an even better one in 1993. Forming a nice partnership with fellow All-Decade team member Ben Cunningham, Munk increased his tally to 11 goals and 26 points, both team highs.

By Munk's junior year of 1994 opponents were well aware of his talent and began to key in on stopping him. It barely slowed him down as in '94 he bagged 11 more goals and finished with 24 points. This was his last year with, the very talented in his own right, Cunningham as his teammate so in 1995 teams could focus on Munk as a way to keep the Pioneers off the scoreboard. Slowing Munk down proved to be a fruitless attempt as in his senior year he raised his output to 13 goals and 27 points, both career highs for him.

Roy is one of five players in the history of the program to receive All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) in all four of his years of eligibility as he received two first team awards and two second team awards. In addition to his All-OAC honors, Munk also received two All-Ohio awards in 1993 and 1995. The '93 award was the first for a Pioneer since the 1985 season. Munk finished his career third on Marietta's all-time record list in goals and points with 44 and 99, respectively.
