MARIETTA, Ohio — Today's announcement of the 2010-19 Offensive Player of the Decade completes the celebration of Marietta College Men's Soccer history. With that in mind we honor
Taylor Reasoner (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson), class of 2016. The Hudson, Ohio native was part of Coach Steve Rose's 2012 recruiting class but got hurt early in the preseason camp and never saw any action on the field his first year.
2013 brought a new coaching staff in and learning the college game from fellow All-Decade team member Wes Riley, Taylor started all 16 games he played in picking up one goal and one assist. 2014 saw an increase to five goals as Riley continued to be the offensive focal point. That 2014 season saw the team qualify for the OAC playoffs for the first time in five years when they fell at Heidelberg in the quarterfinals.
In 2015 Riley had graduated and Reasoner stepped up to be the focal point of the offense. The result was the third highest single season goal total in the program's history as he put 15 away for the season. No goals were bigger than the two he tallied in the playoff clinching 2-0 win on the road at Otterbein. His 15 goals placed him second in the conference for goals scored.
2015 was supposed to be Taylor's senior year, but he took advantage of the fact that he was injured his freshman year and applied for and was granted an extra year of eligibility. In 2016 Reasoner came back and scored another team leading nine goals helping lead the Pioneers to the playoffs for the third year in a row. The quarterfinals would be different this year, having lost to Heidelberg the previous two seasons, the Pioneers won this battle in overtime and Reasoner had one of the assists on
Cole Pappas' (Pittsburgh, Pa./Avonworth) game winner.
Taylor racked up numerous awards in his final two seasons earning two First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors, two All-Ohio awards, two United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Region placements, one College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District selection, two USC Scholar All-Region Awards and one USC Scholar All-American honor.
Reasoner is just one of six players in our history to be named All-Region for his athletic achievements and one of three to receive it multiple times. Taylor is our only All-American of any type in the history of the program. Lastly, Reasoner was just recently named as one of the Top 100 Athletes In Marietta College History.
