MARIETTA, Ohio — Continuing the celebration of Marietta College Soccer history today the program is announcing its Offensive Player of the 1967-79 Decade, midfielder Hasse Rajabi, from the class of 1974. A native of Tehran, Iran, Hasse was the first player in the short history of the soccer program to receive significant recognition in the post season awards.
Hasse was the program's very first All-Ohio honoree and is one of only two players in the 52-year varsity history of Pioneer soccer to earn All-Ohio honors in each of their four playing seasons, culminating with second team recognition in 1973. In addition to the All-Ohio awards, Hasse was the first player in our program's history to be named All-Ohio Athletic Conference, winning that award in 1971 and 1973.
Hasse was named the team's Most Valuable Player in 1971 and was a captain in the years 1972 and 1973. In his senior year, 1973, he led the Navy Blue and White to the first winning season in the program's short history when they finished 5-4-1. Hasse was a four-year starter playing in all 40 games Marietta played during his career as a Pioneer. In addition to his four standout years on the soccer team, Hasse wrestled for two years in 1970 and 1971.
The 80's begin on Monday with the All-Decade Team announcement.
