OBERLIN, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team played extra time in the 1-1 draw against Oberlin College on Saturday (Sept. 14) afternoon. With the tie the Pioneers are now 2-2-1, and the Yeomen are 2-3-1.

Sean Kaighin said, "We're extremely proud of our ladies today. All around a fantastic team effort where everyone was able to contribute. It's disappointing to not come away with the win, but we'll take the draw and continue to improve."
The first half was a defensive battle as the teams entered the intermission deadlocked at 0-0. Marietta outshot Oberlin 4-2 in the first half. The Pioneers won the corner kick battle in the first half 1-0.
Marietta came out of the locker room ready to play as they broke the scoring drought in the 49th minute of the match when
Jasmine Hauser (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy Liberty) found the back of the net, to put the Pioneers on top 1-0. The goal by Hauser was the first of her college career.
The Yeomen answered to tie the game 45 seconds later when Madeline Lynam scored off an assist from Sydnie Savarese. The teams battled for the remainder of the second half, but remained tied at 1-1 at the end of regulation.
Marietta created a pair of chances in the first overtime as
Kayla Tomlin (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern) and
Callie Heft (Frostburg, Md./Mountain Ridge) each had a shot on goal in the overtime period. Each team was able to register a shot in the second overtime, as the Pioneers shot came off the foot of
Jorden Stuart (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne).
In goal Marietta was
Katie Delaney (Batavia, Ohio/West Clermont), she faced 14 shots, eight of which were on goal, and made seven saves.
The Pioneers will return to action Wednesday (Sept. 18) when they travel to battle Berea College, with kickoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
