WAYNESBURG, Pa. – The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action today as they were defeated by Waynesburg University, 2-1.

Tracy Blasius said, "We are disappointed in the result, but we are continuing to build towards playing a full 90 minutes".
The Yellow Jackets grabbed an early lead, as they scored a goal in the 17th minute of the match. Marietta responded seven minutes later in the 23rd minute to tie the game at 1-1.
Kayla Tomlin (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern) found the back of the net for the Pioneers, as she chipped the goalie from 25 yards out. The teams entered the intermission deadlocked at 1-1.
Waynesburg regained a one goal advantage in the 54th minute of the game. Marietta battled until the end, but fell 2-1.
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) was in net for the Pioneers as she faced nine shots, six of which were on goal, and made four saves.
The Pioneers out shot the Yellow Jackets 20-9, and won the corner kick battle, 4-1.
Marietta will return to the field Saturday (Sep. 8th) when they travel to take on St. John Fisher, with the game set to kick off at 11 a.m.
