MARIETTA, Ohio - The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action Saturday (Sep. 29) afternoon as they were defeated by Ohio Northern University, 4-0 in their first Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match of the season.
The first half started as a defensive battle, as the opening 35 minutes of the match were scoreless. The Polar Bears broke the scoring drought in the 36th minute with a goal off of a corner kick. Ohio Northern tacked on a second goal in the 41st minute, and took a 2-0 lead into the intermission.
The Polar Bears scored early in the second half and grabbed a 3-0 in the 50th minute of the match. Ohio Northern scored the final goal of the match in the 78th minute, and won the game 4-0.
In net for Marietta was
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer), she faced 31 shots, 17 of which were on goal, and made 13 saves.
Marietta will return to action Tuesday (Oct. 2) when they travel to take on Otterbein University with the game set to kick off at 7 p.m.
