BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action today as they were defeated by Geneva College, 1-0.
The Golden Tornadoes scored the opening goal of the game, to take a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute of the match. The Pioneers created opportunities in the first half, as
Kayla Tomlin (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern) had a shot on goal. Geneva held their 1-0 edge at the intermission.
The second half of the match was a scoreless battle. Marietta created numerous chances to score as they had five shots, and four corner kicks in the half.
Embrey Roberts (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta), and
Kate Dreas (Independence, Ky./Holy Cross) each notched a shot on goal in the second half. The Golden Tornadoes held on to win the game, 1-0.
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) was in net for the Pioneers as she faced 12 shots, six of which were on goal, and made five saves.
Marietta will return to the field Tuesday (Sep. 25) when they travel to take on Thiel College, with the game set to kick off at 7 p.m.
