MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action today as they were victorious over Pitt-Greensburg University, 2-0. With the win the Pioneer's improve to 1-1 on the season.

Tracy Blasius said, "We had a fantastic overall team effort, despite the 105 degree temperature on the turf. This was a great win for team confidence moving forward."
The first half was an evenly matched battle, as the teams remained deadlocked at 0-0 at the intermission. The Pioneers created more chances than the Bobcats, as they had four shots on goal, and had four corner kicks in the half.
Marietta came out of the half ready to play as they scored the opening goal of the game in the 51st minute.
Kate Dreas (Independence, Ky./Holy Cross) found the back of the net from 25 yards out for the Pioneers off an assist by
France Moise (Naples, Fla./Naples). The goal by Dreas is the first in her career, and the first Pioneer's goal scored on the new Marietta Field.
The game remained 1-0 until a hand ball in the box awarded Marietta a penalty kick.
McKenzie Dorr (Nashport, Ohio/Tri-Valley) converted the penalty kick, and gave the Pioneer's a 2-0 edge in the 87th minute.
In net for Marietta was
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) as she faced seven shots, two of which were on goal, and made two saves. Conkle recorded the shutout with the help of her back line which included,
Amanda Augustyniak (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central),
Jorden Stuart (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne),
Embrey Roberts (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta), and
Lauren Beckes (New Kensington, Pa./).

The Pioneers will return to the field Tuesday (Sept. 4) when they travel to take on Waynesburg, with the game set to kickoff at 6 p.m.
