MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action today as they hosted Oberlin College. Oberlin won the game,1-0 as they scored a goal in the 82nd minute of the match.
The first half of the game was a defensive battle as the match remained tied at the half. Oberlin out shot the Pioneers 5-3 in the first half. Oberlin also won the corner kick battle 3-0 in the first half.
The second half remained a scoreless battle until the 82nd minute when Oberlin was able to score the only goal of the game. The Pioneers were able to create chances in the second half, as they had five shots, and a corner kick in the half. Oberlin won the match, 1-0.
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) was in the goal for Marietta as she faced 10 shots, eight of which were on goal and made seven saves.
McKenzie Dorr (Nashport, Ohio/Tri-Valley) led the Pioneers in shots as she had two in the game.
Sienna Ahlers (Los Alamos, N.M./Los Alamos) added a shot, and took the corner kick for the Pioneers.
Marietta will return to the field Wednesday (Sep 19) when they travel to take on Bethany College with the game set to kick off at 7 p.m.
