HILTON HEAD ISLAND, South Carolina — Webster University defeated Marietta College by the score of 7-2 Monday (Mar. 12) afternoon in women's tennis action. The loss drops Marietta to 1-6 on the season, while Webster improves to 2-2 overall.
The Pioneers picked up points at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 singles. MC's team of
Katie Kitchen (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) and
Erin Warvell (New Castle, Pa./Neshannock) downed Sara Rice and Jes Steffens-Willis, 9-7.
Kitchen grabbed Marietta's other team point with an 8-1 win over Steffens-Willis in singles.
Webster's No. 1 doubles team of Monica Behrle and Madison Watts were 8-1 winners over
Latrice Nelson (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch) and
Victoria Xie (). At No. 3, Robin Bolme and Maggie Federhofer beat
Destiny Grim (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) and Reagan has, 8-3.
Behrle took the No. 1 singles match against Xie by the score of 8-1. Watts won at No. 2 over Nelson by the same score.
At No. 4, Rice was an 8-1 winner over Warvell. Federfoher defeated Grim at No. 5, 8-1, and Adri Ventimiglia beat
Liz Reed (Logan, Ohio/Logan) at No. 6, 9-7.
Marietta plays Webster University on Monday (Mar. 12) at 10 a.m.
