MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action Wednesday (Oct. 24) evening as they hosted Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opponent Muskingum University on Marietta Field. The Pioneers were defeated by Muskingum University, 1-0.
Muskingum scored the lone goal of the first half when Lindsay Dunlap scored a goal off an assist from Briteny Golden. Marietta entered the intermission behind, 1-0. The Pioneers out shot Muskingum 9-4 in the first half, as
Embrey Roberts (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta),
Kate Dreas (Independence, Ky./Holy Cross),
Halie Hill (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg),
McKenzie Dorr (Nashport, Ohio/Tri-Valley), and
Kayla Tomlin (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern) all had a shot on goal.
The second half was a defensive battle, as the half was scoreless. The Pioneers back line of Dreas,
Skout Barger (Beverly, W.Va./Elkins),
Amanda Augustyniak (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central), and
Jorden Stuart (Huber Heights, Ohio/Wayne) only allowed four shots on goal, and goalie
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) saved all four shots.
Conkle was in net for all 90 minutes, she faced 12 total shots, nine of which were on goal, and made eight saves.
Marietta will return to the field Saturday (Oct. 27) when they host OAC opponent Baldwin Wallace University on Senior Day, with the game set to kick off at 4 p.m.
