ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action Wednesday (Oct. 17) evening as they were defeated by Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) foe the University of Mount Union, 5-1.  

The Purple Raiders jumped out to an early lead in the 11th minute as Danielle Rohrman scored the opening goal of the game for Mount Union.  The Purple Raiders added to their lead in the 12th minute, with a goal from Maggie O'Donnell.  Mount Union scored two more first half goals, and took a 4-0 lead in the 32nd minute of the match.  The Pioneers responded with a goal from Chloe Williams (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-Valley) in the 33rd minute of the game.  This was Williams fourth goal on the season.  Marietta entered the intermission behind, 4-1.  

The second half was a defensive battle, as the half was scoreless for the first 43 minutes.  Mount Union was able to gain a 5-1 edge when they scored on a Marietta own goal in the 88th minute of the match.  

Katie Delaney (Batavia, Ohio/) was in goal for the Pioneers in the second half, she faced 12 total shots, eight of which were on goal, and made seven saves.  

Marietta will return to the field Saturday (Oct. 20) when they travel to take on OAC opponent John Carroll University, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
