MARIETTA, Ohio – The Marietta College women's soccer team was in action Wednesday (Oct. 10) as they were victorious over Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opponent Capital University, 3-1.

Tracy Blasius said, "We took a major step forward tonight as we played our most complete 90 minutes this season".
The Pioneers jumped out to an early lead in the 10th minute when
Amanda Augustyniak (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington Central) scored on a free kick from 35 yards out. This was Augustyniak's first goal on the season. Five minutes later
Kayla Tomlin (Sardinia, Ohio/Eastern) provided Marietta a 2-0 advantage when she dibbled through the defense and placed the ball in the upper left corner of the net, for her third goal of the season. The. Crusaders responded with a goal in the 36th minute, to cut the Pioneers lead to 2-1. Marietta held its 2-1 lead at the intermission.
Marietta came out of the half ready to play as
McKenzie Dorr (Nashport, Ohio/Tri-Valley) scored off an assist from
Chloe Williams (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-Valley) to give the Pioneers a 3-1 edge in the 59th minute of the match. The Pioneers did not allow a second half goal and won the game, 3-1.
"We had three quality goals tonight, and an outstanding performance from our goalie
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer)", concluded Coach Blasius.
Conkle was in net for the Pioneers as she faced 26 total shots, nine of which were on goal, and made eight saves.
Marietta will return to the field Saturday (Oct. 13) as they host OAC opponent Wilmington College on homecoming.
