MARIETTA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace University defeated Marietta College 4-0 Friday (Sept. 29) afternoon in women's soccer action. The Pioneers fall to 4-4-2 overall and 0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Baldwin Wallace improves to 8-3-0 overall and 1-0 in the OAC.
The Yellow Jackets wasted no time taking the lead scoring 5:45 into the match. BW was awarded a corner kick and played a short corner to Kori Miller. Miller dribbled to the 18-yard box and then sent the ball into the six where Rachel Bender fired it into the back of the net.
An own goal in the 33rd minute made it 2-0 in favor of Baldwin Wallace. The Yellow Jackets to the two-goal lead into halftime.
Miller and Bender added goals in the second half for BW. Miller scored in the 52nd minute with assists from Kenna Stones and Bender. Bender notched her second goal of the game and 12th of the season in the 70th minute with an assist from Courtney Schutz.
For the match, Baldwin Wallace outshot the Pioneers 15-12. Marietta held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) recorded four saves in goal for MC, while Emma Bruno had seven saves for the Yellow Jackets.
Marietta hosts rival Muskingum University on Wednesday (Oct. 4) in a 4 p.m. match.
