MARIETTA, Ohio — In their final tune-up before opening Ohio Athletic Conference play, the Marietta College volleyball team was swept 3-0 by Kenyon College Tuesday (Sept. 26) evening. The Pioneers fall to 8-10 overall, while Kenyon improves to 10-4 on the season.
Kenyon posted set scores of 25-20, 25-2 and 25-20 for the victory.
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) had a match-high 11 kills for the Navy Blue and White.
Sam Ritenour (Jeffersonville, Ohio/Miami Trace) added eight kills and
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) finished with five.
Aly Wiseman (London, Ohio/Bishop Ready) and
Maddie Nader (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) split the setting duties. Wiseman dished out 15 assists and Nader recorded 13 assists.
Denallo notched a pair of service aces and had 11 digs.
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) had a team best 19 digs from the libero position. Nader chipped in with 11 digs.
Marietta opens OAC play at home on Thursday (Sept. 28) when Baldwin Wallace University visits for a 7 p.m. match.
