CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon. The Pioneers defeated Ohio Christian University 3-0 and lost to Anderson University 3-2. Marietta is now 8-9 on the season.
The Pioneers posted set scores of 25-17, 25-15 and 25-14 in the win over Ohio Christian.
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) and
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) had eight kills each to lead the Marietta attack.
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) finished with six kills.
Aly Wiseman (London, Ohio/Bishop Ready) notched 18 assists, while
Maddie Nader (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) chipped in with nine. Denallo and
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) finished with five digs each.
Sam Ritenour (Jeffersonville, Ohio/Miami Trace) posted three blocks.
Anderson defeated the Pioneers with set scores of 25-18, 25-17, 20-25, 21-25 and 15-9. Irish and Denallo again led the Pioneer attached recording 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Nader, Ritenour and Arrowood each had seven kills.
Nader dished out 13 assists and Wiseman had 10. Peters recorded a match-high 32 digs. Denallo had 24 digs and Wiseman added 12.
Marietta hosts Kenyon College on Tuesday (Sept. 26) at 7 p.m.
