RICHMOND, Ind. — The Marietta College women's soccer team scored once each half to defeat Earlham College 2-0 Saturday (Sept. 23) afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 3-3-2 with the victory, while Earlham slips to 3-5 on the season.
Sophia Moise (Naples, Fla./Naples) tallied the game winner in the 14th minute. Moise tapped in a follow-up shot for her second goal of the season.
Chloe Williams (Dresden, Ohio/Tri-Valley) made it 2-0 late in the game.
McKenzie Dorr (Nashport, Ohio/Tri-Valley) sent a corner kick into the box where Williams headed it home in the 84th minute. It was the second goal of the season for Williams.
Freshman keeper
Katie Conkle (Toledo, Ohio/Whitmer) recorded her third shutout of the season. Conkle made three saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Marietta dominated possession all afternoon outshooting Earlham 20-11. The Pioneers took six corners to three for Earlham. Sari Stissi had six saves in goal for the Quakers.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Pioneers. Marietta hosts Thiel College on Monday (Sept. 25). Kikcoff is set for 4 p.m.
