BLUFFTON, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team defeated Allegheny College 3-1 on the first day of the Bluffton Fall Classic Friday (Sept. 15) evening. The Pioneers posted set scores of 25-21, 25-16, 15-25 and 25-20. Marietta improves to 6-5 overall, while the Gators slip to 5-5 on the season.
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) led the Pioneers with nine kills.
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) added eight kills and
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) finished with seven.
Ellie Gerber (New Philadelphia, Ohio/New Philadelphia) and
Maddie Nader (Vermilion, Ohio/Vermilion) dished out 17 and 16 assists, respectively.
Defensively,
Grace Haas (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) posted three blocks.
Amber Mauric (Crystal, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's School) had a team-high nine digs. Denallo recorded eight digs and
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) had six.
Marietta wraps up play in the Bluffton Fall Classic on Saturday (Sept. 16). The Pioneers play Trine and Bluffton at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
