WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College women's soccer team dropped a 4-0 decision at Otterbein University Tuesday (Oct. 24) evening. The Pioneers slip to 6-9-2 overall and 2-6 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Otterbein improves to 11-4-1 overall and 4-4 in the OAC.
Three first half goals were more than enough for the Cardinals. Priscilla Severance scored the game winner in the 19th minute with an assist from Haleigh Guerra.
Guerra picked up her second assist of the night in the 33rd minute. Guerra sent a corner kick into the box where Annie Mosca headed it in for a 2-0 Cardinal lead. An own goal in the 43rd minute gave Otterbein a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Otterbein's fourth goal of the match came in the 71st minute. Katie Exline placed a cross inside the box where Guerra was waiting. Guerra slipped the ball into the net for the final goal of the match.
Marietta used three different goalkeepers in the match.
Karlee Bruns (Cambridge, Ohio/Cambridge) played the first half and recorded four saves.
Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike, Ohio/Orange) started the second half and made two saves before giving way to
MaryKate Corum (Cleveland, Ohio/Normandy). Corum notched five saves in the final 21 minutes.
Erin Gordon started in goal for the Cardinals and posted a pair of saves in the first half. Katie Both played the second half and had one save.
For the match, Otterbein outshot the Pioneers 26-4, including a 15-3 edge in shots on goal. The Cardinals took all eight corner kicks in the game.
