WOOSTER, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Wooster Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic Friday (Sept. 16). The Pioneers defeated Franciscan University 3-0 and then lost to Pitt Bradford by the same score.
Marietta (9-4 overall) swept Franciscan (2-9 overall) 25-16, 25-17 and 25-23.
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) and
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) led the Pioneers with 19 and 11 kills, respectively.
Cassie Staten (Athens, Ohio/Athens) dished out 33 assists.
Grace Haas (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) led the defense with four blocks.
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) had a team-high 15 digs, while
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) added 12 digs.
Pitt Bradford (9-2 overall) posted game scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-23 to beat the Pioneers. Denallo just missed a double-double with 12 kills and nine digs. Arrowood and
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) each added seven kills. Staten recorded 24 assists.
Peters had a match-high 16 digs and Haas notched three blocks.
Marietta continues play in the Wooster Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic on Saturday (Sept. 17). The Pioneers play Bluffton University at 12 p.m. and Oberlin College at 2 p.m. Fans can follow all the Pioneer teams all year long at
