CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio — Marietta College came from two games down to beat Ohio Christian University 3-2 Tuesday (Sept. 13) evening in volleyball. The Pioneers posted game scores of 17-25, 18-25, 26-24, 28-26 and 15-12 for the victory.
After dropping the first two games, Marietta (8-3 overall) needed extra points to edge Ohio Christian (3-9 overall) in the third and fourth games to force the deciding fifth, which the Pioneers pulled out 15-12.
Freshman
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) led all attackers with a match-high 19 kills.
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) posted a double-double with 15 kills and 20 digs.
Cassie Staten (Athens, Ohio/Athens) dished out a match-best 46 assists to go along with 11 digs.
Amber Mauric (Crystal, Minn./Benilde-St. Margaret's School) finished with 20 digs, while
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) and
Delaney Dawson (Granville, Ohio/Granville) had 13 and 10, respectively. Mauric also served up three aces.
Marietta plays in the Wooster Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic this weekend. The Pioneers play Franciscan University at 3:30 p.m. and Pitt Bradford at 7:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 16). Fans can follow all the Pioneer teams all year long at
