WASHINGTON, Pa. — Washington and Jefferson College downed Marietta College 6-0 in women's soccer Thursday (Sept. 1) evening. The match was the season opener for both schools.
The Presidents scored five second half goals to break open a close match. Jordan Toohey scored the first of her three goals in the match just before halftime to give W&J a 1-0 lead at the break. Toohey took a long pass from Brianna Floryshak and went upper-90 for the goal in the 43rd minute.
Toohey scored the first two goals of the second half for the natural hat trick. She tallied at the 72:00 mark off a corner kick and then added another 42 seconds later with an assist from Emilee Handyside.
Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike, Ohio/Orange) went the distance in goal for the Pioneers. The junior made eight saves. Allison Rineheimer and Beth Boyles split the goalkeeping duties for W&J.

Raeli Barnes (Vincent, Ohio/Warren) had two shots for Marietta, while her classmate
Kelsey Carver (Bellville, Ohio/Clear Fork) took MC's other shot in the match.
