EMORY, Va. — Marietta College softball spilt a pair of game for the second straight day as the Pioneers dropped a 7-2 decision to Case Western Reserve University and then downed Emory & Henry College 10-8 Sunday (Feb. 28) afternoon. Marietta finishes the weekend with a 2-2 overall record.
Case Western (5-3 overall) exploded for five runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth en route to the 7-2 victory. Marietta took the early lead with two runs in the third. 
Alexis Reese (Canton, Ohio/Perry) smacked a two-run double scoring 
Cierra Bloom (Dennison, Ohio/Claymont) and 
Brianna Finck (New Lexington, Ohio/Crooksville).
Alison Kach (Greenwich, Conn./Greenwich) (1-1) started in the circle and was tagged with the loss. Kach allowed three runs on seven hits in 4.0 innings of work. 
Jocelyn White (Gibsonia, Pa./Hampton) and 
Reagan Tom (Chandlersville, Ohio/Philo) both threw in relief.
In the nitecap, Marietta scored 10 runs in the final three innings to come from behind and defeat Emory & Henry (2-6 overall). Kach (2-1) pitched the final 3.0 innings to get the win. She worked out of trouble in the seventh and allowed four runs on six hits in the game.
Trailing 4-0, the Pioneers evened the score with four runs in the top of the fifth inning. 
Rachel Montgomery (Massillon, Ohio/Perry) had an RBI single and 
Rebekah Finn (Cincinnati, Ohio/Oak Hills) drove in two with a double to left-center.
MC added two more in the sixth and then 
Kaitlin Klinchock (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) delivered the final blow for Marietta crushing a grand slam in the seventh inning to put the Pioneers in front 10-4.
Klinchock finished 3-for-4 with a double, home run, two runs scored and four RBI. Montgomery also collected three hits in the game and drove in two runs. Finck and 
Ariann Barile (Roaming Shores, Ohio/Jefferson) each had two hits for the Pioneers.
Kristina LaRocca (Strasburg, Ohio/Strasburg Franklin) started in the circle for the Pioneers and threw 3.0 innings. She gave up three runs on seven hits. White allowed one run on three hits in an inning of relief.
Marietta is off until next Sunday (March 6) when the Pioneers open play at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla. Marietta plays the College of Mount St. Joseph at 11:15 a.m. and Montclair State University at 1:30 p.m.
