ADA, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 loss at No. 25 Ohio Northern University Saturday (Oct. 29) afternoon. The Pioneers slip to 17-15 overall and 2-7 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The Polar Bears are 24-3 and claim the OAC regular season title with a 9-0 conference record.
Marietta will be the No. 8 seed in next weeks OAC Tournament. The Pioneers return to Ada to take on top-seeded Ohio Northern on Tuesday (Nov. 1) at 7 p.m.
Ohio Northern swept the Pioneers 25-12, 25-9 and 25-23.
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) led Marietta with 12 kills.
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) added six kills and
Mallory Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) had five.
Cassie Staten (Athens, Ohio/Athens) had a team-high 15 assists.
Barnes and
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) each had three blocks at the net.
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) recorded a team-high eight digs, while Vodopich notched seven.
