ADA, Ohio — Marietta College lost to No. 23 ranked Ohio Northern University, 3-0, Tuesday (Nov. 1) evening in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Tournament. The Pioneers made their second trip to Ada in three days after finishing the regular season against the Polar Bears on Saturday.
Ohio Northern, the top seed, swept eighth seeded Marietta 25-9, 25-14 and 25-11. The Pioneers finish the season with a 17-16 overall record. ONU improves to 25-3 on the season.
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) led Marietta with 10 kills.
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) finished with four kills, while
Grace Haas (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) and
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) each had three.
Cassie Staten (Athens, Ohio/Athens) recorded 15 assists for the Pioneers.
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) notched a match-high 19 digs. Emily Peers finished with eight digs and
Mallory Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) had five. Haas and
Jess Lucas (Cincinnati, Ohio/Milford) each had one block.
