WILMINGTON, Ohio — Marietta College swept a pair of volleyball matches at Wilmington College Saturday (Oct. 15) afternoon. The Pioneers took and Ohio Athletic Conference match from Wilmington 25-11, 25-14 and 25-14 then took down Ohio University Chillicother 25-21, 25-19 and 25-20.
Marietta improves to 16-11 overall and 1-4 in the OAC. Wilmington is now 3-19 on the season and 0-5 in the OAC. Ohio University-Chillicothe slips to 3-6 this fall.
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) and
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) led Marietta's attack against the Quakers with 13 and 11 kills, respectively.
Delaney Dawson (Granville, Ohio/Granville) added eight kills and
Grace Haas (Marietta, Ohio/Marietta) finished with seven.
Cassie Staten (Athens, Ohio/Athens) direct the offense with 40 assists. She also had a match-high 12 digs.
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) and
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) each recorded eight digs, while Haas tallied three blocks.
Freshman
Taylor Pennock (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) posted a career-high 13 kills in the win over OU-Chillicothe.
Megan Hesson (Lowell, Ohio/Fort Frye) had nine kills and Irish chipped in with eight. Dawson handled the setting and dished out 32 assists.
