BEREA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace University swept Marietta College 3-0 in an Ohio Athletic Conference volleyball match Saturday (Oct. 1) afternoon. The Pioneers slip to 14-8 overall and 0-1 in the OAC. Baldwin Wallace improves to 19-1 on the season and 1-0 in league play.
The Yellow Jackets posted game scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-11 in the OAC opener for both schools. Baldwin Wallace hit an impressive .386 as a team and was led by Nikolette Scruggs' 16 kills and .682 attack percentage.
Hunter Barnes (Duncan Falls, Ohio/Philo) had nine kills to pace the Pioneers.
Mallory Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry),
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) and
Erica Denallo (Parma, Ohio/Independence) each put away six kills in the match. Freshman
Cassie Staten (Athens, Ohio/Athens) directed the MC attack with 29 assists.
Vodopich and
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) each had a team-high nine digs. Barnes finished with two blocks, while Peters had a pair of service aces.
