MARIETTA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace held Marietta College to just 16 points in the middle two quarters en route to a 67-52 victory Saturday (Jan, 30) in Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball. The loss drops Marietta to 10-9 overall and 4-8 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets improve to 13-6 on the season and 9-3 in conference play.
Brooke Borich (Beverly, Ohio/Fort Frye) led all scorers with 16 points. The sophomore came off the bench to hit four three-pointers.
Megan Dixon (Londonderry, Ohio/Vinton County) added eight points, while
Corrie Burkhardt (Zanesville, Ohio/Philo) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.
BW had three players in double figures led by Mackenzie Colombo's 15 points. Sydney Clark chipped in with 12 points and Janaya Feaster added 10 markers. Alissa Munro finished with eight points and a team-best six boards.
Clark drained a long three-pointer as time expired in the first quarter to give BW a 19-17 lead after the first period. Both teams struggled offensively in the second quarter as the teams combined for just 13 total points. A three-pointer from Borich put MC in front 25-24 at the break.
Baldwin Wallace built a comfortable lead in the third quarter as Marietta's offensive troubles continued. The Yellow Jackets led by 13 points, 46-33, heading into the fourth quarter. BW pushed the lead to as many as 20 points as the Pioneers failed to mount a comeback.
For the game, Marietta shot 30.3% (20-of-66) from the floor, 34.8% (8-of-23) from three-point range and 50.0% (4-of-8) at the line. The Yellow Jackets were 24-of-56 (42.9%) from the floor, 10-of-19 (52.6%) behind the arc and 9-of-12 (75.0%) at the line.
The Pioneers outrebounded Baldwin Wallace 45-37. Despite grabbing 20 offensive rebounds, Marietta managed just eight second chance points in the game. Baldwin Wallace forced 18 Pioneer turnovers while committing 13.
