NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — Westminster College posted a 3-0 shutout over Marietta College Friday (Sept. 4) evening in women's soccer. The Titans start the season 1-0 overall, while the Pioneers slip to 0-2 on the season.
Westminster controlled play for most of the match. The Titans outshot Marietta 28-1 and held a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Keely Birsic scored the first of her two goals in the 34th minute. She tallied her second goal in the 61st minute giving Westminster a 2-0 lead.
The Titans' final goal came with 30 seconds left in the match. Mere Mishler sent a cross into the box where Rylie Shaw was waiting to head it home.
Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike/Orange) allowed two goals and made nine saves in net for the Pioneers. Freshman
Danielle Locher (Madison/Riverside) made one save and gave up one goal. Westminster used three different keepers in the match.
