GROVE CITY, Pa. — The Marietta College women's soccer team dropped a 6-0 decision at Grove City College Saturday (Sept. 5) afternoon. The Pioneers fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Wolverines improve to 2-0-1 overall.
Grove City got on the board in the eighth minute when Kristin Thomas took a cross from Sammie Wild and headed it home. The Wolverines added another goal in the 40th minute for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Krista Heckman tallied a pair of goals 26 seconds apart to lead a four-goal scoring barrage for Grove City in the second half. Lindsay Hutton and Natalie Silk scored one goal each.
Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike/Orange) had seven saves in goal for the Pioneers playing the first 45 minutes.
Danielle Locher (Madison/Riverside) played the second half and recorded nine saves. Nicole Lapia started in goal for Grove City and had one save.
The Wolverines outshot Marietta 31-2 for the match. Grove City held an 8-1 advantage in corners.
