CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. — Playing a nationally ranked opponent on the road for the second straight match, the Marietta College men's soccer team lost a hard fought battle to No. 25 Thomas More College by the score of 2-0 Saturday (Sept. 26) afternoon.
Both defenses dominated play in the first half. The Saints held Marietta without a shot, but managed just three of their own. Pioneer keeper
Tyler Sholl (Johnstown/Big Walnut) made a pair of saves in the first 45 minutes.
Thomas More justified its national ranking striking for two goals in a three-minute span of the second half. Austin Juniet scored in the 64th minute off an assist from RJ Best. Colin Dean made it 2-0 in the 67th minute with an assist from Brian Runyon.
Sholl finished with five saves in goal for Marietta. Jeff Paulin played all 90 minutes and made one save for the Saints.
Thomas More fired off 11 second half shots and held a 14-2 advantage over the Pioneers for the match. The Saints took three corners, while Marietta had two.
