MARIETTA, Ohio — Washington and Jefferson College turned in a dominating performance to beat Marietta College 8-0 Tuesday (Sept. 22) afternoon in women's soccer action. The Presidents improve to 5-1-1 on the season, while the Pioneers fall to 0-8 overall.
Jordan Toohey staked the Presidents to a 3-0 lead notching a hat trick in less than three minutes. Toohey scored the game winner at the 19:55 mark and then added a second goal in the 22nd minute and completed the hat trick with a goal at the 22:48 mark.
Washington and Jefferson led 4-0 at the half and then added four more in the second period. After Toohey's hat trick, five other Presidents scored in the match. Tatiana Ruzzini triggered the Presidents' attack assisting on three of the goals.
Cassie Wint (Shreve/Wooster) took the lone Marietta shot in the match. W&J keeper Allison Rinehimer made the save.
Danielle Locher (Madison/Riverside) started in goal for the Pioneers and made nine saves.
