GRANVILLE, Ohio — Denison University swept Marietta College 3-0 Wednesday (Sept. 16) evening in volleyball action. The Big Red posted set scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-23 to improve to 6-3 on the season. The Pioneers drop to 4-3 overall.
Denison played a near flawless first set to grab the early lead. The Big Red did not commit an attacking error in the opening frame and finished the match with a .299 attack percentage.
Devin Walter (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) led the Pioneer attack with nine kills and a .400 attack percentage.
Erica Denallo (Independence/Independence) and
Shauntiel Oliver-Smith (Elyria/Elyria) each finished with four kills.
Julia Moskaluk (Copley/Revere) directed the MC offense and recorded a team-best 15 assists.
Moskaluk also helped anchor the defense with a match-high nine digs. Denallo and
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) each added seven digs.
Marietta plays five matches in two states this weekend. The Pioneers wull play three matches in the Hiram College Tournament on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 18-19) and then travel to Maryland for two matches at Frostburg State University on Sunday (Sept. 20).
