MARIETTA, Ohio — Geneva College scored once each half en route to a 2-0 victory over Marietta College Saturday (Sept. 12) afternoon in women's soccer action. The loss drops the Pioneers to 0-5 on the season. Geneva improves to 4-0 overall.
Heidi Mann put the Golden Tornadoes on top in the 18th minute. Mann fired a shot from 30 yards out that Marietta keeper
Danielle Locher (Madison/Riverside) got her hands on but couldn't control it as the ball slipped over the line for a goal.
Locher, making her first collegiate start in goal, finished with 13 saves.
Sam Kelley (Columbus/Hilliard Davidson) played the final nine minutes and made one save for the Pioneers.
Geneva added a second goal in the 76th minute. Mann sent a cross into the 18-yard box to Kimberly Orihel. Orihel beat Locher with a shot to the lower left corner of the net.
Anna McMullen went the distance in goal for the Tornadoes. She made six saves in the shutout.
Geneva outshot the Pioneers 22-8 for the match. The Tornadoes took six corner kicks to Marietta's one.
