HOBOKEN, N.J. — Marietta College split a pair of matches Saturday (Oct. 3) afternoon at Stevens Tech. The Pioneers defeated Utica 3-0 and then lost to the host school by the same score. Marietta moves to 8-10 overall.
Marietta posted set scores of 25-22, 25-8 and 25-23 to beat Utica (2-18 overall).
Erica Denallo (Independence/Independence) and
Devin Walter (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) each had eight kills to lead the Pioneer attack. Libero
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) chipped in with eight service aces and 19 digs.
Mallory Vodopich (Canton/Massillon Perry) had a solid all-around performance with six kills, no attack errors, four aces and nine assists.
Julia Moskaluk (Copley/Revere) recorded 18 assists.
Stevens (11-8 overall) swept the Pioneers wit set scores of 25-20, 25-15 and 25-18.
Darcy Irish (Lagrange/Keystone) paced the Pioneers with nine kills and a .444 attack percentage. Walter and Vodopich posted six kills each. Vodopich finished with 11 assists, while Moskaluk had 14 assists.
Defensively, Ervin had 15 digs and Denallo and Moskaluk each had 12.
Grace Haas (Marietta/Marietta) notched three blocks.
