WESTERVILLE, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team lost in four sets at Otterbein University Tuesday (Oct. 27) evening in the Rike Center. The Cardinals move to 12-16 on the season and 3-5 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Marietta drops to 9-17 overall and 2-6 in the OAC.
Otterbein used a strong offensive attack in the first and fourth sets to down the Pioneers. The Cardinals hit .424 in the first set winning 25-17 and then sealed the win with a .440 attack percentage in the fourth for a 25-12 win.
Marietta took the second set by a 25-20 margin. The Cardinals answered right back winning the third set by the same 25-20 score.
Senior
Devin Walter (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) led the Pioneers with a season-high 18 kills. Walter posted a .227 attack percentage collecting 18 kills and eight errors in 44 attacks.
Mallory Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) added nine kills and a match-best 24 assists.
Julia Moskaluk (Copley, Ohio/Revere) collected 20 assists as she split the setting duties with Vodopich.
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) and
Shauntiel Oliver-Smith (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) chipped in with six kills, while
Erica Denallo (Independence, Ohio/Independence) had three service aces.
Defensively, Denallo had a match-high 17 digs. Vodopich and
Mary Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) each had 11 digs and
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) contributed nine.
