MARIETTA, Ohio — The College of Wooster held on to defeat Marietta College in five sets Friday (Oct. 23) evening in nonconference volleyball action at Ban Johnson Arena. Wooster evens its overall record at 12-12, while the Pioneers fall to 9-15 on the season.
The Fighting Scots took the first two sets 25-17 and 25-22. Marietta battled back and took the next two sets by identical 25-22 scores sending the match to a deciding fifth set. Wooster captured the fifth 15-11 to secure the victory.
Darcy Irish (Lagrange, Ohio/Keystone) and
Erica Denallo (Independence, Ohio/Independence) led the Pioneers attack. Irish finished with 11 kills and three blocks. Denallo posted 10 kills, three blocks and 19 digs.
Devin Walter (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) and
Mallory Vodopich (Canton, Ohio/Massillon Perry) chipped in with nine and eight kills, respectively.
Vodopich dished out 19 assists while
Julia Moskaluk (Copley, Ohio/Revere) recorded 23 assists. Moskaluk had 13 digs and a pair of service aces.
Amanda Arrowood (Reynoldsburg, Ohio/Groveport Madison) contributed seven kills and a match high five blocks.

Mary Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy Orange) posted a match-high 24 digs.
Emily Peters (Elyria, Ohio/Keystone) added 14 digs along the back line.
