MARIETTA, Ohio — John Carroll University scored four first half goals en route to a 4-0 victory over Marietta College Friday (Oct. 16) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Blue Streaks improve to 4-10-1 overall and 2-3 in the OAC, while the Pioneers fall to 0-15 on the season and 0-5 in conference play.
Bailey Fischer scored first for John Carroll finishing off an unassisted goal in the eleventh minute. The Pioneers were then whistled for a handball inside the box resulting in a penalty kick for JCU. Preston Mendel converted the penalty in the 19th minute for a 2-0 lead.
Mendel added a second goal in the 28th minute with an assist from Andrea Regrut. The final Blue Streak goal came in the 40th minute when Regrut's corner kick was finished off by Maria Ploplis.
Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike/Orange) went the distance in goal for Marietta. Tenney made nine saves. Rhianna Guarnera recorded two saves for JCU in the first half, while Taylor Tercek had two in the second half.
For the match, John Carroll outshot the Pioneers 24-8. The Blue Streaks took five corner kicks to just a pair for Marietta.
