MARIETTA, Ohio — The Marietta College volleyball team lost in straight sets to visiting Baldwin Wallace University Saturday (Oct. 10) afternoon. The Yellow jackets posted set scores of 25-22, 27-25 and 25-23 improving to 19-4 overall and 2-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Marietta slips to 8-12 on the season and 1-2 in the OAC.
Baldwin Wallace led the first set from start to finish. The Yellow Jackets used a 5-1 run early in the set to take control.
The second set was a back and forth affair as neither team could build much of a lead. Marietta managed a four-point lead, 23-19, and was poised to even the match at a set apiece. However, BW answered with five straight points to go in front 24-23. The Yellow Jackets held on for the 27-25 win.
It was much of the same in the third set as neither team led by more than three points. After a
Mallory Vodopich (Canton/Massillon Perry) kills tied the set at 21-21, Baldwin Wallace outscored the Pioneers 4-2 to secure the victory.
Vodopich led all players with a match-high 14 kills. She also led MC with 17 assists and added eight digs.
Devin Walter (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) was also in double figures with 10 kills and finished with a .276 attack percentage.

Mary Ervin (Lewis Center/Olentangy Orange) had a team-high 17 digs to go along with seven assists.
Julia Moskaluk (Copley/Revere) recorded 16 assists and 10 digs. Eric Denallo chipped in with five kills and 13 digs, while
Emily Peters (Elyria/Keystone) had 11 digs and
Shauntiel Oliver-Smith (Elyria/Elyria) notched seven kills.
