BEREA, Ohio — Baldwin Wallace scored four goals in the first half and went on to defeat Marietta College 6-0 Saturday (Oct.10) evening in Ohio Athletic Conference women's soccer action. The Yellow Jackets improve to 8-4-2 overall and 2-1 in the OAC, while the Pioneers fall to 0-13 and 0-3 in league play.
BW punched in an early goal and never looked back. Rachel Bender tallied an unassisted goal in the sixth minute. The Yellow Jackets added three more first half goals in a span of less than two minutes for a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.
Kelly Gough scored with an assist from Courtney Schutz at the 33:40 mark. Cassandra Waickman hit an unassisted goal at 34:23 and then Joy Trillett found the back of the net at the 35:31 mark. Anna Poptic picked up the assist on Trillett's goal.
Baldwin Wallace padded its lead with a pair of goals in the second half. Cheryl Bell scored in the 61st minute off an assist from Bender. Bender then notched her second goal of the match scoring in the 68th minute with an assist from Jenny Burdick.
Emily Tallmadge and Sydney Yeager combined for the clean sheet in goal for the Yellow Jackets. Tallmadge had one save in the match.
Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike/Orange) started in goal for the Pioneers and recorded seven saves.
MaryKate Corum (Cleveland/Normandy) had one save.
