BEREA, Ohio — The Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team defeated Marietta College by the score of 75-51 Saturday (Jan. 31) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference action. The Yellow Jackets improve to 15-4 on the season and 10-2 in the OAC. Marietta falls to 7-12 overall and 3-9 in the OAC.
Baldwin Wallace opened the game with a 7-2 run and never trailed. The Yellow jackets led by as many as 20 points, 42-22, in the first half. Marietta closed the opening period on an 8-3 run to trail 45-30 at halftime.
BW maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half. A 15-0 run pushed the margin to 33 points, 73-40, with 5:21 left in the game.
Morgan Liedtke (Lowell/Fort Frye) led Marietta with nine points.
Candice Alexander (Fairborn/Fairborn),
Heather Booth (Newport/Frontier),
Jenna Andersen (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) and
Ashley Frasure (Logan/Logan) each chipped in with six points. Frasure posted a team-high six rebounds.
Clara Lemon paced the Yellow Jackets with 15 points. Sydney Clark added 12 points and a game-best seven rebounds.
For the game, Marietta shot 34.9% (22-of-63) from the floor, 28.6% (4-of-14) from three-point range and 33.3% (3-of-9) at the free throw line. Baldwin Wallace was 27-of-54 (50.0%) from the floor, 8-of-13 (61.5%) behind the arc and 13-of-16 (81.3%) at the line.
The Yellow Jackets outrebounded Marietta 38-35. Marietta committed 18 turnovers, while BW turned the ball over 19 times.
