MARIETTA, Ohio — Wilmington College took advantage of a three minute scoreless drought by Marietta College to come from behind and defeat the Pioneers 71-60 Saturday (Dec. 6) afternoon in women's basketball action. The Quakers improve to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Marietta drops to 4-3 on the season and 1-1 in the OAC.
Candice Alexander (Fairborn/Fairborn) made one of two free throws with 7:48 left in the game to give Marietta a 55-51 lead. The Pioneers would not score again until Alexander hit a pair of free throws at the 4:48 mark. But the damage was done.
Wilmington scored 16 unanswered points during that three-minute span to turn a four-point deficit into a 12-point lead, 67-55. The Pioneers never recovered as the Quakers maintained a double-digit lead until the final buzzer.
Marietta grabbed an early lead and maintained it for most of the game. The Pioneers used a 12-2 run to build a 10-point lead, 32-22, with 4:48 left in the first half. The Quakers battled back and trailed by four, 34-30, at halftime.

Jessica Brogan (Cincinnati/Anderson) led the Pioneers with 17 points. Brogan also grabbed eight rebounds and had four steals. Freshman
Amisha Herd (Zanesville/West Muskingum) added 11 points, seven rebounds, four steals and four assists.

Ashley Frasure (Logan/Logan) finished with a team-high nine rebounds. Fellow rookie
Laura Frazee (Fresno/Ridgewood) pulled down eight boards, while Alexander notched three blocked shots.
Courtney Tucker posted a double-double to lead the Quakers. Tucker had 17 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four steals. Mary Moyer tallied 12 points and six boards, while Kirsten Glick had seven points and 10 rebounds.
For the game, Marietta shot 33.8% (22-of-65) from the floor, 27.3% (6-of-22) from three-point range and 47.6% (10-of-21) at the free throw line. Wilmington was 25-of-61 (41.0%) from the floor, 7-of-15 (46.7%) behind the arc and 14-of-25 (56.0%) at the line.
Both teams had trouble holding onto the basketball as Marietta committed 27 turnovers and the Quakers turned the ball over 23 times. The Pioneers finished with a slim 49-45 edge on the boards.
