SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Marietta College women's basketball team opened play in the San Juan Shootout with a 65-63 come from behind win over Suffolk University Sunday (Dec. 28) afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 5-6 on the season, while the Rams drop to 2-6 overall.
Suffolk came our firing on all cylinders sinking six three-pointers and shooting nearly 54% from the floor in the first half. The Rams led by as many as 12 points and took a 39-27 lead into halftime.
Marietta took advantage of 10 Ram turnovers and nine offensive rebounds to get back into the game in the second half. The Pioneers had a 10-0 edge in second chance points after halftime.

Heather Booth (Newport/Frontier) and sophomore
Morgan Liedtke (Lowell/Fort Frye) led the Pioneers with 12 points each. Liedtke also grabbed a team-best nine rebounds, while Booth had five boards.

Ashley Frasure (Logan/Logan) added nine points and seven rebounds. Fellow rookie
Amisha Herd (Zanesville/West Muskingum) chipped in with seven points, six rebounds and four steals.
Iliana Quadri led three Rams in double figures with 14 points. Kelsey Schiebel scored 13 points and Alexandra Nagri added 10 points. Tori Brillaud pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
For the game, Marietta shot 34.8% (23-of-66) from the floor, 33.3% (4-of-12) from three-point range and 51.7% (15-of-29) at the line. Suffolk was 19-of-45 (42.2%) from the floor, 8-of-14 (57.1%) behind the arc and 17-of-29 (58.6%) at the line.
The Pioneers dominated the glass outrebounding the Rams 49-35, including a 20-5 edge on the offensive glass. Suffolk turned the ball over 22 times, while the Pioneers committed 16 turnovers.
