SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Skidmore College shot a sizzling 62% from the floor in the second half to defeat Marietta College 67-53 Monday (Dec. 29) evening in women's basketball action. The Thoroughbreds outscored the Pioneers by 22 points in the second period turning an eight-point halftime deficit into a 14-point victory.
Marietta wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 5-7 overall record. Skidmore evened its season record at 4-4.
After trading leads for most of the first half, the Pioneers closed the opening period with an 11-2 run. Sophomore
Morgan Liedtke (Lowell/Fort Frye) capped the run with a three-pointer to give Marietta a 30-22 advantage at halftime.
Liedtke hit a pair of free throws early in the second half to give Marietta its biggest lead of the game, 34-25. Skidmore answered with a 13-1 run to take a three-point lead, 38-35, with 13:36 remaining.
The Thoroughbreds scored on five straight possessions to build an 11-point lead with just over two minutes left on the clock. Skidmore converted five of six free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.

Amisha Herd (Zanesville/West Muskingum) hit 5-of-8 shots to lead Marietta with 13 points. Freshman
Ashley Frasure (Logan/Logan) added 10 points and five rebounds. Senior
Heather Booth (Newport/Frontier) and freshman
Ashley Barker (Mogadore/Mogadore) each grabbed six rebounds.
Angela Botiba led Skidmore with 22 points and nine rebounds. She also blocked three shots. Lindsey Davis scored 12 points, while Ella Scheuerell had 10 points and nine rebounds. Amber Holgate finished with 10 points.
Marietta was 22-of-66 (33.3%) from the floor, 3-of-15 (20.0%) from three-point range and 6-of-11 (54.5%) at the free throw line. Skidmore shot 42.1% (24-of-57) from the floor, 33.3% (7-of-21) behind the arc and 70.6% (12-of-17) at the line.
The Thoroughbreds outrebounded Marietta 45-38. The Pioneers forced 17 Skidmore turnovers whiling committing 13 turnovers.
