ALLIANCE, Ohio — Five different Purple Raiders scored as the University of Mount Union defeated Marietta College by the score of 5-0 Tuesday (Oct. 7) evening women's soccer. The Pioneers are now 1-10-1 overall and 1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Mount Union improves to 9-3 on the season and 2-1 in the OAC.
The Purple Raiders scored four goals in the second half to pull away from Marietta. The first half was evenly matched with each team taking five shots. Mount Union tallied a goal in the 18th minute and held a 1-0 lead at the break.
Erika Druzina was credited with the game winner win she scored an unassisted goal at 17:35 in the opening period. In the second half Carolyn Balzano found the back of the net just over two minutes into the period off an assist from Kelsey Malenic.
The Purple added goals in the 59th, 80th and 86th minutes. Malenic scored with an assist from Nicole Moldovan to make it 3-0. Shannon Evans notched the fourth goal with an assist from Taylor Lanes, while Katie Goedecke put away the final goal off an assist from Shannon Evans.
For the match, Mount Union outshot Marietta 12-9, including a 10-7 edge in shots on goal. Pioneer freshman
Alexis McKenzie (Lancaster/Bloom Carroll) had three shots on goal for Marietta.

Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike/Orange) recorded five saves for the Pioneers, while Maria Favorite had seven for the Purple Raiders.
