TIFFIN, Ohio — After two overtime periods and 110 total minutes of playing time, Marietta College and Heidelberg University had to settle for a 1-1 tie Saturday (Oct. 25) afternoon in women's soccer action. The Pioneers are now 1-13-3 on the season and 1-4-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Heidelberg moves to 3-12-2 overall and 0-5-1 in the OAC.
Heidelberg struck first with a goal in the 24th minute. Emily Hopton scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Christina Neal. The Student Princes took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Marietta knotted the match with a goal in the 60th minute. Freshman midfielder
Ali Kowal (Vermilion/Vermilion) scored the equalizer with an assist from
Kirsten Jones (Washington, W.Va./Parkersburgh South). The goal was Kowal's first of the season.

Rebecca Tenney (Pepper Pike/Orange) went the distance in goal for the Pioneers and had five saves on the day. Kenzie Lundqvist recorded nine saves in net for the Student Princes.
The Pioneers outshot Heidelberg 17-13 including a 10-6 edge in shots on goal. Heidelberg took four corner kicks to MC's three.
